A place to belong

A safe and friendly home from home.

We nurture, challenge and foster independence in all children in our care. You will find a safe and friendly home from home. Our facilities are clean and hygienic and our premises are well maintained.

Fuzzy’s is small enough that your child is recognised by name at the gate, and established enough to offer a full early learning programme, home cooked meals and a secure environment. Our classrooms bring together children from many home languages, faiths and family structures, and we welcome children with physical, emotional or educational support needs. Care and learning are not separate things at this age. They happen in the same moment.

Why families choose Fuzzy's

Six things parents tell us matter most

Nearly three decades

Established in 1997, long enough to have taught siblings and, in some families, a second generation.

Small groups

A low teacher to child ratio, so your child is attended to rather than supervised.

Trained in first aid

All staff hold first aid and CPR training, and the premises are monitored by CCTV.

A multicultural home

Many languages, faiths and family structures, treated as ordinary and celebrated through the year.

A halaal kitchen

Hot breakfast, mid morning fruit, a home cooked lunch and an afternoon snack, with most dietary requirements catered for.

Support that fits

Children with physical, emotional or educational needs are welcomed and accommodated in partnership with parents.

A day at Fuzzy's

The rhythm your child can count on

Young children settle when the shape of the day is predictable. Times shift slightly by age group, and babies follow their own feeding and sleeping pattern.

Our people

You are entrusting your child to people, not a building

Fuzzy’s is led by Fazlin, our principal, alongside a team of caring, experienced educators. Across nineteen families who have written to us, the same names come up again and again — teachers who treat every child as their own. In the words of one parent, “we could not have asked for better mothers for him.”

We are proud of the people who care for your children each day, and we would rather introduce them to you in person than through a photograph on a screen. When you visit, you will meet the principal and the educator who would care for your child, and you can ask them anything you wish.

Parent voices

Seven of these families came back with another child.

Some returned with a second. One returned with a third, thirteen years later. Nineteen families have written to us about what Fuzzy’s did for their children, and you can read every word of it.

Our story

Caring for young children since 1997

Longevity in early childhood care is not decoration. It means the routines have been tested, the educators have been trained, and hundreds of Pinelands families have already made this decision before you.

  • Baby care from three months introduced.
  • Move to new premises on Welwyn Avenue.

What we offer

A safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can grow.

Fuzzy’s Daycare is a registered Early Childhood Development centre providing responsive care and purposeful, play-based learning from infancy to school-going age.

Our programme is aligned with South Africa’s National Curriculum Framework for children from birth to four and its six Early Learning and Development Areas: well-being, identity and belonging, communication, exploring mathematics, creativity, and knowledge and understanding of the world.

We use the GROW ECD play-based curriculum to guide our themes, classroom activities, educator planning and learning resources. For our older children, we introduce developmentally appropriate experiences that build the language, mathematical, physical, social and emotional foundations required for a confident transition into Grade R and the CAPS Foundation Phase.

What our educators provide

Consistent, responsive care and secure daily routines Structured and child-led play Language-rich learning experiences Early literacy and mathematical development Music, movement, art and imaginative play Social and emotional development Physical development and outdoor play Observation-based developmental support Regular communication with families Individual attention that respects each child’s pace, personality, language and needs

Safety

The thing you think about most, we think about first.

Leaving your child with someone else is an act of trust. Everything below exists so that trust is never misplaced — from who can walk onto the property, to who is allowed to walk out with your child.

A monitored, enclosed premises

Fuzzy’s is equipped with video surveillance throughout the inside and outside of the premises. Access to the property is restricted, and nobody is allowed on the daycare grounds during school hours unless it has been pre-arranged with the Principal.

Only known adults collect a child

A child is only ever released to a parent, guardian or a person the family has named in advance. If someone new is to collect your child, we must be told beforehand, and we may ask for identification. If we are unsure, your child stays with us until we have reached you.

Trained, present educators

Children are supervised by familiar adults throughout the day, indoors and outside. Our routines are built so that no child is unaccounted for, at drop-off, during activities, at meals, at rest and at collection.
